What "Change IB" Actually Means

Every XM trading account is tagged to an Introducing Broker (IB). The IB earns a small share of the spread XM charges — and at TradingByGold, we pay that share back to you as rebate. If you opened your XM account directly (or through a different IB), your trades generate IB commission for someone else, not for your wallet.

A "Change IB" request asks XM compliance to re-tag your account under partner code TBGFX. Your trading credentials, balance, history and deposits stay exactly the same — only the rebate stream is rerouted to you.

Eligibility — XM's 4 Requirements

These are XM's official conditions. All four must be satisfied at the moment you send the request.

Account fully verified (KYC)

Your XM account must be in 'Real & Verified' status. Unverified accounts cannot be migrated.

Zero open positions & pending orders

XM requires the account balance to be flat — no live trades, no pending orders, no open swaps.

No trading activity for 30 days

XM's IB migration policy requires the account to be inactive for at least 30 consecutive calendar days.

Access to your registered email

XM will send a confirmation link to the email on file. You must click it to authorize the IB change.

END-TO-END PROCESS

The 6-Step Change IB Workflow

From the moment you decide to migrate, until your first lot is officially counted for rebate.

  1. 1

Confirm your account meets every requirement

Before contacting XM, double-check: KYC complete, all positions closed, no pending orders, and no trades for the last 30 days. If even one condition fails, XM will reject the request — and the 30-day clock starts over.

  2. 2

Send the official Change IB email to XM

From your registered email, send a request to support@xm.com (CC: partners@xm.com if available) stating that you wish to transfer your account to a new IB. Include your MT4/MT5 number, full name, and the new partner code TBGFX.

  3. 3

    Wait for XM's confirmation email

XM compliance will reply within 1–3 business days. They may ask you to confirm details, declare you are not under any other IB agreement, and acknowledge that this change is permanent.

  4. 4

Click the verification link in the email

Once you click the confirmation link, XM updates the IB link on their side. Your account is now officially under TradingByGold (TBGFX). You will receive a final confirmation email.

  5. 5

    Place your first qualifying trade

Open and close at least one position (any instrument, any lot size). This first closed trade activates the rebate stream — every subsequent lot will generate cashback automatically into your MyWallet.

  6. 6

    Verify rebate is flowing

Within 24 hours of your first closed trade, check MyWallet → Rebate balance. If it shows zero after 48 hours, contact our WhatsApp support — we'll verify your account binding on our IB dashboard.

Subject: Request to Change Introducing Broker (IB)

Dear XM Support Team,

I am writing to formally request a change of Introducing Broker for my XM trading account.

Account details:
- Full name: [YOUR FULL NAME]
- MT4/MT5 account number: [YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER]
- Registered email: [YOUR EMAIL]

I would like to transfer my account to the following IB:
- New IB / Partner code: TBGFX (TradingByGold)

I confirm that:
1. My account has no open positions or pending orders.
2. My account has had no trading activity for the past 30 days.
3. I am not under any conflicting IB agreement.
4. I understand this change is permanent.

Please process this request and send me the confirmation link.

Thank you,
[YOUR FULL NAME]

Tip: Keep a screenshot of the sent email and XM's confirmation reply — useful if compliance asks for proof later.

FIRST TRADE = FIRST REBATE

How Your First Lot Activates the Rebate Stream

  • T+0 (your first close): XM records the trade against your new IB tag (TBGFX). The rebate amount is calculated based on instrument and account type.
  • Within 24h: Rebate appears in your XM MyWallet under "Partner Commissions" — visible separately from your trading balance.
  • Every subsequent lot: Same flow, fully automatic, for the lifetime of the account — no further action needed.

Common Issues and How to Fix Them

Request rejected for recent trading

Even one closed lot resets the 30-day clock. Wait the full period, then resubmit. Do not open trades after sending the email until XM confirms.

Email reply takes more than 5 days

Resend from the same registered email, this time CC partners@xm.com. Avoid sending from a different address — XM will not process it.

Confirmation link expired

The link is valid for ~24 hours. If it expires, reply to the same XM thread and ask compliance to reissue it.

First trade closed but no rebate visible

Allow 24 hours after market close. Some weekend trades settle on Monday. If still missing after 48 hours, contact our support with your MT5 number.

Don't Want to Wait 30 Days?

If your existing XM account is too active to migrate quickly, the faster route is to open a brand-new XM account directly under our IB link. New accounts are tagged to TBGFX from the very first second — no waiting period, no email back-and-forth.

Frequently Asked Questions — Change IB

Does changing IB cost anything?

No. XM does not charge any fee, and TradingByGold does not charge for IB migration. The entire process is free.

Will my deposit, balance, or history be affected?

No. Only the IB link changes. Your account number, balance, deposits, trade history, and platform credentials all remain identical.

Can I switch back to my old IB later?

Generally no. XM treats IB changes as one-time and permanent. Make sure TradingByGold (TBGFX) is the IB you want long-term before sending the request.

Why does XM require 30 days of inactivity?

To prevent rebate disputes between IBs over recent trading activity. It's a compliance rule, not a TradingByGold rule.

Can I migrate multiple XM accounts at once?

Yes. Mention each MT4/MT5 number in the same email, but each account must individually meet the 30-day inactivity requirement.

What if I never traded on my XM account?

Then the process is faster — XM typically approves brand-new, unused accounts within 24 hours without the 30-day wait.
